Design Process
Thank you again for visiting my website. My goal in providing landscape design services and consultations is to provide for my clients a creative design that will bring them joy and satisfaction for years to come.
I call this a ‘design process’ because a good design needs to account for many factors. The most important of which is you….the client. As cliche as it may sound, it is true. This is your yard, your outdoor living room, and your hard earned money. Let’s face it, you’re going to pay to for bad design the same as good design…why wouldn’t you pay for good design??
I love what I do and I love helping and educating clients about landscaping. Through this process, we will be able to design your yard based on your wants, needs, and budget….not mine or a contractors.
The process is rather simple.
INITIAL MEETING
We have an initial meeting on-site to discuss the project scope, client’s desires, likes and dislikes. The information gathered from this meeting sets the direction for the initial design.
After the initial meeting, I develop a rendered landscape concept plan which basically is my first attempt at incorporating all of your desires from our initial meeting. It includes sketches, ideas, sections, general plant materials, hardscape layout, and possibly photos. This conceptual plan is to a scale and is drawn in plan view (like you’re looking at it from an airplane). In the past I have also generated 3D computer models to help clients visualize their design (for an extra fee). We discuss this initial design in depth and either generate revisions or, in most cases, proceed to construction documents without revisions.
After the concept plan is approved by the client, I proceed to draft the final design in greater detail. These construction documents are necessary to instruct the contractor how to build your design accurately and it is a very useful tool for the homeowner to obtain ‘apples to apples’ bids. For an additional fee, I can assist with the bid process, help locate a reputable contractor, and/or perform construction management services to ensure an outstanding final product.
